Greetings Church Family,

On behalf of the Alpharetta Seventh-day Adventist Church and its leadership team, I would like to wish each of you a Happy 4th of July! As we celebrate our independence as a free nation, never forget our great need for dependence on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I am excited to announce our fall evangelistic series – Run It Back – which will take place September 21 to 27 (Weeknights: 6:30-8:00 pm, Sabbath: 9:30 am, 11:00 am, and 6:30 pm). This year, our guest speaker will be Pastor Andrew Korp from the Duluth SDA Church (See picture below). Pastor Andrew brings a deep passion for Jesus, discipleship, and authentic community. Throughout our series, he and I will work to clear the table of all that distorts our view of God and impedes His mission.

Plan for a week of worship, study, fellowship, prayer, and healthy discussion. Childcare and refreshments will be provided during each session. So, I invite you to mark your calendars and RSVP/share with your family and friends by clicking here.

Pastor Andrew Korp and Family

Pastor Andrew Korp is a passionate follower of Jesus with a heart for discipleship and community. He earned his Master of Divinity from Andrews University in 2023, building on a legacy of faith and education shaped by his upbringing in Cleveland, TN, where both of his parents served as dedicated Seventh-day Adventist teachers. Today, Andrew is joyfully married to his best friend, Nicole Korp. Together, they are navigating the beautiful journey of parenthood with their daughter, Elleanor, and their loyal dog, Pepita. His personal mission is to create an atmosphere of intentional discipleship and deep fellowship, helping others experience the freedom and joy found only in Jesus.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Vacation Bible School (VBS), held from June 22 to 26, was a fun and impactful week at our church. With 75 kids in attendance and over 40 volunteers, the event was a great success. Throughout the week, children learned about God’s love, care, and forgiveness through Bible lessons, crafts, snacks, and games. A special highlight was the generous monetary offering raised for the local charity, Meals by Grace, totaling over $750. The kids were amazed by the giant insect props made by church member Daniel Grentz. Several of the children made decisions to deepen their relationship with Christ by agreeing to start Bible lessons. It was exciting to see so many kids from the community take part, making this VBS a wonderful opportunity for outreach. We are grateful to all the volunteers, families, and kids who made this event such a memorable experience!

JULY FAMILY FUN

Make Homemade Chalk -

A fun boredom buster. They will love using their homemade chalk outside on the sidewalk or driveway.

You’ll need: (for each color that you make):

 1/4 cup of plaster of Paris

 1/8 cup of warm water

 1-2 Tbs of washable paint - Tempera Paint is preferred (Sargent Art Tempera paint is my favorite. It will keep the mixture thin and smooth.)

 Disposable bowls or Dixie cups are a good idea

 Molds, such as silicone popsicle molds, cupcake wrappers, toilet paper tubes, and wax paper. (I used silicone cupcake wrappers for my mold.)

Instructions:

 Pour the plaster of Paris and warm water into a bowl or small disposable cup

 Stir in the colored paint.  The mixture will start to thicken up as you add the paint

Once you see that the mixture is turning into a thick frosting consistency, then you are ready to shape the chalk

 Pour the mixture into your molds

 Pack the chalk mixture so that air pockets are filled in

 Let the chalk sit for about 24 hours, ensuring it’s dry before unveiling it

 Then go out and have some fun!

Fireworks/Fire Safety - Never allow children to handle fireworks - temperatures reach 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Always supervise children closely. Choose alternatives like glow sticks. This is also a good opportunity to discuss fire safety. Go to Smokeybear.com for games and activities.
